Intermediate Youth Camp
July 22 - 26, 2019
9 am - 4 pm
Our intermediate youth camp is a foil and epee camp for the intermediate youth fencer. (see requirements below). Camp will be taught by Foil Master Vince Camillo and Epee Prevot Michael McTigue.
The camp's emphasis will be on bouting and tactical decision making. Fencing activities include: organized bouting, technical and tactical drills, video review feedback, footwork and conditioning.
Requirements for Intermediate Youth Camp: minimum age of 8 years old and the following previous fencing experience:
- NWFC Fencers - Youth Level 2, Youth 1 with approval only.
- Visiting Fencers - Experience at the regional level expected. (RYC)
Please note: this camp is limited to 30 fencers.
Students should wear a t-shirt, long pants such as sweats or athletic warm-ups and clean-soled athletic shoes with laces. Please bring snack/lunch and water bottle. Lunch break is from Noon-1:00.

Vince Camillo - Assistant Foil Coach/Foil Master
Vince has been fencing since he was 14. He began his coaching career in San Francisco, teaching fencing at Mission High School as well as training students of all ages in his non-profit 'Panhandle Fencing Club." Vince received his Maître de Fleuret (Foil Fencing Master) from the United States Fencing Association in 2017.
Michael McTigue – Assistant Epee Coach
Coach McTigue began his fencing career under the supervision of Hungarian Maestro Csaba Elthes. Later he studied under renowned Russian epee Maestro Albert Chikayev, trainer of multiple world and Olympic champions. He was Michael’s mentor and developed him into a coach as well as a championship winning veteran epee fencer. Coach McTigue was Head Coach of the Montclair High School Fencing Team for 12 years.
